Manchester united are set to undermine Chelsea for the second time this summer and secure the signature of French midfielder Tiemou Bakayoko for £40 million plus add ons of £10 million. Chelsea had looked set to sign the midfielder having agreed personal terms with his agent. However their £37million offer was rejected by Monaco who want £40million plus add ons for the player. Jose Mourinho has been looking to strengthen United’s midfield this summer. United where originally looking to sign Fabinho from Monaco however Mourinho was not interested in the player and had instructed Ed Woodward to focus his efforts on signing Bakayoko. Loosing out on the French midfielder is another serious blow to Chelsea after they had previously been outbid for Romelu Lukaku by Manchester united. Antonio Conte has become increasingly frustrated with Chelseas board this summer who seem unwillingly to spend on big name players as club Owner Roman abramovich is content with the current squad. Chelsea lack of signings has fuelled speculation that Conte may leave Stamford bridge before the start of the premier league season.
